| COURTHOUSE FIRE |
| Date: |
4/17/08 |
At Approx. 4:45 pm the call came in for a
building fire at 525 West Chester Pike, The Haverford Towsnhip District
Court Building, located in the Llanerch section of Haverford Township.
The Haverford Bureau of Fire responded from Llanerch, Brookline, Manoa
& Bon Air Fire Companies. Upon arrival, they where greeted with
heavy smoke & fire visable from the 1st flr to the roof.
As companies went into service, and the bulk
of the fire was knocked, it was discovered that the fire originated
from the outside, from a pile of mulch, where possible a disgarded
cigerette may have ignited the mulch. The fire caught the cedar facade
on the face of the building and burned up to the roof. Firefighters did
a great job in containing the fire and keeping it from spreading to the
inside. A specail call was made for the RIT Team from Oakmont. The
Bureau of Fire cleared the call at just past 6:00 pm.

| Date: |
3/30/08 |
The
call was recieved at 2014 hrs for a reported fire showing from the roof
at 1701 Karakung Drive in the Ardmore section of Haverford Township.
Oakmont & Brookline Fire Companies responded. Oakmont 5
(McGoldrick) arrived and confirmed fire showing from the roof of a
single family dwelling set back about 100 yards off the road way.
Engine 11 arrived first and went straight in, Engine 31 waited for
Ladder 1 to accend the driveway before backing up the driveway and
reverse laying about 800 feet of 5" hose out to the hydrant at Karakung
Drive & Haverford Rd. Oakmont & Brooklines crews worked
together to get a quick knock on what could have been a long night.
The fire was caused when an exhaust fan on
the 3rd flr shorted out and caught fire. The fire spread to the outside
and ignighted the wooden cedar shingle roof. The fire was contained to
the originating wall and roof area. Crews picked up & cleared at
approx. 2145 hrs
